Pesticide License Recertification Seminar Series

The hidden world of subterranean soil arthropod pests – Identification and management of invisible pests 11:00-12:00, Speakers: Ben Diehl and Bev Gerdeman

Major soil arthropod pests include wireworms, springtails, root maggots, symphylans and bulb mites. Their subterranean habits make them some of the most difficult agricultural pests to control. This program will cover how to identify these pests, as well as recognize their damage to various crops. We will highlight their biology to identify vulnerable stages and best approaches for treatment. Efficacy between products will be compared and as well as how to finetune effective treatments. Specific trials will be discussed including: cabbage maggot and cabbage seed, collembola, symphylans and spinach seed, wireworm and organic lettuce.

All seminars will be delivered over Zoom. Please see http://mtvernon.wsu.edu/events/category/brown-bag-seminars/list/ to register.
